I lost a night of sleep! She is so inspirational and down to earth at the same time。 She writes in such a relatable way, you get engrossed in the stories。

They go low, we go high。 Thanks to PRHAudio for this complimentary Audiobook! I could listen to Michelle or Barack Obama all day。 I think their perspective on things is so beyond anything I can/will or have experienced and I look up to those who can share their life journey the way Michelle does in this book。 That was a long sentence。 This was a great inspiration book。 That makes you want to look inward on yourself but also give that inner self some slack and GRACE even。 If you have never read a They go low, we go high。 Thanks to PRHAudio for this complimentary Audiobook! I am a huge Michelle Obama fan - I find her smart, inspiring and charismatic。 But, after reading her marvelous memoir, this follow-up book was a disappointment。 Perhaps I am being particularly harsh because I expected more from her, but I just feel this book missed the mark for me。 First, the tone came across as both preachy and generic, oftentimes feeling as if it was geared toward teenagers and twenty-somethings。 In general, I found her dispensing advice in this way, a bit too Oprah-esque my t I am a huge Michelle Obama fan - I find her smart, inspiring and charismatic。 But, after reading her marvelous memoir, this follow-up book was a disappointment。 Perhaps I am being particularly harsh because I expected more from her, but I just feel this book missed the mark for me。 First, the tone came across as both preachy and generic, oftentimes feeling as if it was geared toward teenagers and twenty-somethings。 In general, I found her dispensing advice in this way, a bit too Oprah-esque my taste, and as a result, I found myself tuning her ideas altogether。 Though I still admire her tremendously, I wish the book had been more challenging intellectually - it all seemed so simplistic, basic。 (I read the book in a mere two sittings, which indicates just how light I found the material to be。) All in all, it pains me to say it, but this book fell short of the (high) expectations I have for this exceptional woman and leader。 。。。more

I enjoyed this book。 It kept my interest until the end。I still don't understand the black/white racial tensions。 I never met a Black person until I was 30。 Charles was a doctor from South Africa。 He married a white woman and me a Chinese man who was a geologist/plaeontologist。 That was in Canada almost 50 years ago。 My husband got a promotion moving us to Colorado。 It was a culture shock, and the first time I felt prejudice。 There were very few mixed marriages then。 It was difficult but somehow I enjoyed this book。 It kept my interest until the end。I still don't understand the black/white racial tensions。 I never met a Black person until I was 30。 Charles was a doctor from South Africa。 He married a white woman and me a Chinese man who was a geologist/plaeontologist。 That was in Canada almost 50 years ago。 My husband got a promotion moving us to Colorado。 It was a culture shock, and the first time I felt prejudice。 There were very few mixed marriages then。 It was difficult but somehow we got through it all。A funny situation happened in Bermuda-people thought we were Bruce Lee and his wife。 My husband was asked to teach martial arts。I'm a widow after 46 years of companionship and love。 My grandchildren helped me deal with grief。 I luckily babysat them often。It's almost 5 years and I still miss Kam。 Life does go on and I'm a firm believer in "one foot forward a step at a time"。I get concerned and upset about all the problems in the U。S。A。 (and yes I became a citizen ) but find comfort in my family and Mother Nature。 I always hope for tolerance of differences。Thank you for sharing your life story。 I voted for your husband because I thought he was a true leader。I appreciate all the sacrifices made by you and your family。 It's not an easy task to be a President。 。。。more

5★ + 5♥: JUST WHAT I NEEDED, WHEN I NEEDED IT! MICHELLE IS THE PART OF AMERICA I AM PROUD OF! MICHELLE IS THE PART OF AMERICA I AM PROUD OF! She is so down to Earth and humble; I love her overall life story and the stories she chose to share with us in this book。 This book made me want to return to Becoming and listen again。 I burned through this audiobook (which she narrates of course) in five hours。 I had a challenging evening and overall a heavy week and you know, it’s been a heavy couple of years。 To hear someone of Michelle’s stature discuss similar struggles is heartening and inspires hope。 I love that she’s a woman of color and that she’s such a straight shooter AND that she’s funny。 She shares quotes from Toni Morrison, John Lewis and Maya Angelou。 She shares stories about celebrities like Lin Manuel Miranda and Ali Wong, but also about unknown mothers。。。 and they get equal time。 She hits a variety of topics: the pandemic, parenting, anxiety/fear, marriage, FRIENDSHIP, being 5’11” and more。 Her views on friendship were an unexpected bonus AND they echoed all the latest books I’ve read on the topic this year, which is fabulous for everyone willing to hear her。 And her new hobby?! I don’t see myself jumping into it but could she be any more human?! The people she honors and includes somehow makes me proud。 I know her dad has passed, but shout-out to both her parents, Marian and Fraser, for doing such an amazing job raising this child of America。 Michelle Obama sets an extraordinary example of walking the talk, and the talk is “Going High。” Her mention of the Three Sisters makes me want to go read her first book (which I didn’t know existed until hearing this one)。 She mentioned Indigenous people more than once。 Give her ALL the bonus stars!Rebeccca Carroll of the LA Times nailed it in her review, saying of the book: “Among the reasons it’s not so easy to dismiss are the indefatigable humility of its author and, perhaps more importantly, the resolute necessity of a book like this right now, in this particular moment, for a pandemic-afflicted nation that is politically siloed, socially untethered, emotionally shell-shocked。” 💥And。。。 I’m one of the first 100 people to rate this book and the 18th to write a review。 I don’t think I’ve ever been that early before :) 。。。more

If you read or listen to any of Michelle’s books you can’t help but come away lifted, lighter, with a desire to be kinder, more thoughtful, less glib。 It breaks my heart that people can be so cruel, thoughtless and condescending。 I want to carry light!

Another incredibly well written, poignant and inspiring book from the woman who will forever be the best First Lady in my opinion。 Very graceful, she talks about taking the higher road, empathy for others who may be living with extra challenges and so much more。 I really enjoyed when she shared stories about her grown daughters, mother and her father who lived and died with MS。 Great on audio read by the author。 Much thanks to @prhaudio for a complimentary audiobook in exchange for my honest rev Another incredibly well written, poignant and inspiring book from the woman who will forever be the best First Lady in my opinion。 Very graceful, she talks about taking the higher road, empathy for others who may be living with extra challenges and so much more。 I really enjoyed when she shared stories about her grown daughters, mother and her father who lived and died with MS。 Great on audio read by the author。 Much thanks to @prhaudio for a complimentary audiobook in exchange for my honest review! 。。。more

Rating it low to make up for all the liberal air-heads that are giving it 5 stars before it even comes out。 The title itself is amusing based on the fact that she is a premium racist, liar, thief, and hypocrite。 When I read the book maybe my rating will go up, but the more true good things she says will be held against her until she starts LIVING and DOING everything her pompous behind is telling everyone else to do!

A book about relationships, diversity, race, gender, and visibility is what we all need in this current world。 I am so excited to see from the blurb that this book by Michelle Obama discusses all these vital topics and much more。 I loved reading her memoir, Becoming, and I love to know more about Michelle's take on the concept of unity in diversity (unity without uniformity and diversity without fragmentation) discussed in this book。 A book about relationships, diversity, race, gender, and visibility is what we all need in this current world。 I am so excited to see from the blurb that this book by Michelle Obama discusses all these vital topics and much more。 I loved reading her memoir, Becoming, and I love to know more about Michelle's take on the concept of unity in diversity (unity without uniformity and diversity without fragmentation) discussed in this book。 。。。more
